Season 1 Episode List

Existence is. It just is, but exploring its varied forms and states seems to be some odd mystical notion or scientific asylum for the perpetually and mentally doomed. Some say it’s too big, but it shows up in the microcosms of everything, breathing or not. All different, yet shared. It’s wild.

On this episode we’re chatting about shared existences, independent realities, truths, paradoxes, ramen noodles and odd expressions of… well, all of them.

Soy sauce and Tabasco in an Italian dish. It’s really weird, probably happened at 2am in some brain child of “damn I’m starving” and “DAMN! I’m starving… I wonder if…” It’s weird. And flippin’ delicious. That’s part of this whole exploration thing. You have a need or a curiosity (or both and then some) and you just kinda go for it. It’s not a kid thing, it’s not a “through the eyes of a child” incident, there’s no damn expiration on exploration. Besides, rabbit holes probably aren’t safe for kids to jump into anyway. At least, not unsupervised.

This episode shoves you in the gondola and takes you on a ride through the exploration flow and how it shows up in curious, questioning and unknowing everyday life.

Disclaimer: Children and rabbit holes are not a good idea. Do not let the child go in the rabbit hole. This is your PSA.

Probably one of the most observed traits we can witness in each other, expression is. The way we frame a word, the tones we take, the music that syncs with your vibe before your brain computes music is happening (talking about dancing here), the things made at 2am when nobody’s watching and you can get your Frankenstein on… You know, expression. A lot of folks don’t even know it’s happening, let alone walk anyone through it. And the way it leaves its mark? Woof. Damn if it isn’t a tricky bastard.

On this episode we’re going to dive into how we’ve managed to express everything from pain to excitement to happiness and non-medical malarkey. Malarkey will more than likely take over but you never know.

Nobody talks about how fucking good it feels to just check out. Even if it’s just for a few seconds. And this isn’t the kind of checking out where you wake up in someone’s parking lot looking around like a confused duck in a badger’s nest – though honestly, we’ve been there and it has its own perks. Nope, this is the stasis before, after and during. That time when you’re just detached for a second to let the air flow through the musty bits and rewire the brain to pick up again while you’re catching a load of lung relief. This is the “good for you” detachment.

On this episode, we’re chatting about detachment-done-right. Yes, there is a way to daunt with a thousand-mile stare while understanding where you fit in the perpetual equation of movement. Fancy words for zoning out is good even when you do stuff.

The optics around healing are garbage. Healing sucks. Sure that moment of clarity might come, and yes; there will certainly be tears. But to say it’s all goldfish and crab cakes is just insane. Definitely delusional at best. Crab cakes and goldfish sound awful. Healing hurts, it’s annoying, it’s persistent; it stalks you like the creepy guy at the Halloween store a little too obsessed with the clown outfit he’s wearing outside. Just standing there. Waving, watching and waiting. Every year.

This time, we’re chatting about the persistent badgering of healing and all the lovely ways we’ve experienced the suck of healing and experienced others experiencing the suck of healing.

Healing is a painful, patient, persistent dumpster fire requirement. It hurts, you’re annoyed, things feel like the downward spiral from the top of Candy Mountain all the way down to Hades’ Jacuzzi room. But it’s a Jacuzzi room that stays the perfect temperature versus the cold calculating cavities of Candy Mountain.

On this episode we build that bobsled and slide between those warm steam room doors while unpacking the synergistic and sustainable side of healing and the snow-capped bon-bons you get to shove in your cheeks during the ride.

A long time ago, two ideals got into a fight. While they fought, the rest of the folks who’d practiced their curiosity and ways simply went about life, recording their stories and continuing on. Fast-forward to the current landscape and those two ideals? They keep getting into these uncouth geriatric fights and someone needs to put an end to it. More than likely many someones.

On this episode we’re going to rip the seams of spirituality and science. Explore a few theories from the realms, in between the spaces of parallel concepts with different names and through the perceptions of strange and unhinged individuals.

Passion Projects. A lot of people have them, more people want them, and most people have no idea why the hell they’re spending “too much time” on them, which is honestly a strange sentiment when you really think about it. Like sitting in a grocery store with a cart full of the good stuff going “why am I spending so much time picking out the food that nourishes my body when it’s just going to turn in to shit later?”

On this episode, we jest and chat about passion projects, why we do them, what the hell we get out of them and how so many have led to awesome things that sometimes include awesome people.

Experimenting is something we all just kinda do in one arena or another. It’s like exploration, but the weird evolution of it. A lot of folks experiment with lifestyles, expression of sexuality, art forms, spiritual endeavors, philosophical notions and scientific rites to name a few. And there are others of us who experiment with trash-talking tweens in-game, jumping off of the literal highest peak we can find in our favorite open world forum (or out of an actual plane, which is maddening) or trying to live a peaceful life in a post apocalyptic wasteland surrounded by non-tweens also having a strange or shit day. (Oh the video games…)

This time, we’re chatting about ways to experiment safely, what experimentation might look like, shitty shit and good shit that’s come out of it and why the hell it’s so damn important to … well to everything in life and around it.

“You failed.” A lot of folks don’t really understand all the layers that come with that two word gut punch, but they understand that they don’t like it, it sucks and is genuinely just a garbage sensation. And it changes you like nothing anyone could even begin to pretend to imagine they know what its like unless you’ve gone through it. Ah failure our old friend, time for our regular fight club meeting, eh?

On this episode, we chat about how much failure just takes all the wind out of your damn sails, kills motivation and teaches some rock hard lessons along the way. And not the fun rock hard. The old-school bludgeoned by a rock but somehow it managed to be good for you as a whole, kind.

It’s not success but it isn’t failure either. It’s not stagnation but might not quite be movement? It’s kind of that in-between ground where you’ve learned the thing, are incredibly timid about doing it but you’ve done it a million times out of sheer accident. Like becoming Batman when washing the dishes because you dropped about ten things from the suds and somehow managed to stack a dish cairn without make more noise or breaking anything.

This episode centers around that weird point after failure where capability and conviction start their negotiations. Another fancy way of saying “you’ve finally caught on to the pattern that you can now do the thing you failed at but need to really just unclench and commit to doing it.”

Ever just need to turn the light on because the dark is a little too dark? Sitting at home, doing some Netflix and chill, enjoying your evening before you realize the shadows are sitting on the couch next to you and the only part of your furry buddy you can see are the remnants of beast-mode eyes from its primal years. That kind of darkness, but like… on the inside.

On this episode, we explore what darkness feels like, odd relationships with it, how it shapes expressions and their understandings and the why and how some of us go full-on Dark Side and Darkseid without losing the spark.

We’ve all done a lot of this in our lives, over recent years and probably for the rest of forever. Learning is just around, whether you want it to be, know that it’s there or not. It’s that “get used to it” vibe that has followed from the informative and educational years to the “I need to do this so I can actually interact” adult ones. And sometimes it’s fun, while also brutally painful and brutalizingly honest.

In the season finale, we take a stroll down all the memory and motivation lanes to chat with our old mentor, Learning. From crafting skills and forging trade to equations, boo-boos, hiccups and unwipable “Fuck.” moments, sharing the journey of learning makes it so much more… Awesome?
